Unexpected Photos!

Sometimes before I venture out on a photo shoot I have a vague idea of what I am looking for, but sometimes this does not go to plan!

As the COVID-19 period began to ease the desire to get out and photograph grew and grew.  I had to come up with a plan for a photo shoot which didn’t require a long traveling distance.  I was therefore confined to my local area; a location I have shot many a time (Although, apparently not enough).

I decided I was going to take a short drive to a local walk with the aim to get a photograph of some lovely stand alone trees, I had done my map research and I had checked the weather, but there was a catch…. I hadn’t been on this walk for such a long time, the trees were no longer stand alone.  My planned and very much looked forward to first photograph after lock down, had failed.

I therefore decided to complete the walk batting away the swarming flies, just over half way along the walk I took a breather and took in the view (a good view but no photograph).  While sitting there looking way into the distance, I saw what I thought was a roof poking up above one of the hills. I got out my map and tried to locate this building, maybe I was tired, but I could not find it. So, I became determined to find this building in the distance.

I took myself off the path and went in the rough direction of where I thought the building was. On the way I came across a small road which went in the correct direction, leading me further from my original location.  Following this road I ended up on the doorstep of a small tin building which was perched on the edge of a small damned loch, ideal for a photoshoot.

After taking the photograph I packed up and took a more leisurely pace back to the car, on this route I got several other photographs and would you believe it a picture of two stand alone trees.

The events of this initially uneventful photography trip, ended up with a very successful picture (not of my intended subject) and multiple pictures that I was pleased with, especially as one was of the sought after stand alone trees.
